Call for Practices

In this time of unprecedented attention to education reform, we invite you to add to the national treasure of reform resources.  
 
Made possible by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through the auspices of the Ohio Grantmakers Forum, the Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools is seeking:

Best Cooperative Practices between Charter and Traditional Public Schools  

A National Conference to showcase these best practices will be held September 27- 28, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio.  

The conference will collect, exhibit and publish 50 best cooperative and innovative practices from across the country.  Deadline has been extended to August 13th, 2010.

Submission Guidelines

Who is innovating? How do traditional districts and charters work together to transcend differences and meet our 21st century challenges?

Best Examples? What are the best examples of charters and traditional schools working together to leverage their special attributes, capacities and know-how to advance our nation’s educational effectiveness?

We are looking for best cooperative practices between charter and traditional public schools in the following categories:

  • Instruction and Curriculum
  • Performance Management
  • Dropout Prevention
  • Operations
  • Career and College Readiness
  • Facilities
  • Transportation
  • Extracurricular
  • Conditions for Learning
  • Other

If you have a best cooperative practice that you would like to present for consideration, please follow these guidelines on how to make your submission. Click here to see the scoring rubric, which the selection committee will use to grade each submission. Your collaboration must be between a charter and traditional public school.

It is a condition of acceptance of the submission that at least one of the authors must attend the conference and present the best practice. Travel stipends are available to assist those who are selected to present.

No handwritten submissions, please. Please submit your electronic submissions to Amy Black, National Conference Manager at ablack@oapcs.org by August 13th, 2010.
