OAPCS is a nonprofit advocacy organization that proactively educates and informs the public, families, stakeholders, policymakers and thought leaders about the importance of educational choice and charter schools. In this capacity, OAPCS serves as a clearinghouse of charter school data, research and stories pertaining to the charter movement, quality in education, state and federal school legislation and other topics that affect student equity.

Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Awards Grant to OAPCS

The Cleveland-based Martha Holden Jennings Foundation has awarded a grant to the Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools to enroll two urban charter schools into the OAPCS performance management program known as the Data Matters Consortium.

PDK/Gallup Poll Shows Strong Support for Charter Schools

The 46th annual PDK/Gallup Poll of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools showed Americans favor charter schools, despite the fact that many do not understand how they work. A majority of those polled favored charter schools as an educational option.

OAPCS Responds to Rep. Fedor's Letter to the U.S. Department of Education

Rep. Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) took the rare step Tuesday of asking the federal government not to award grant funding to Ohio, seeking to block additional money for the state’s charter schools.

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) reacted dismissively, and a statewide group representing charter schools called her actions disappointing.
